Rehearsals were starting & I knew I wouldn’t get my way
my band took five & I walked back to my dressing room
The director shouted Girl, better be back soon
He said the union was not happy with the lights in here
I knew my last performance was drawing near

most of its bluster & I promise that you'll get your way
5 more rehearsals... you'll be ready come the opening night
my heart danced a beat, yet something wasn’t feelin’ right

I miss the Mississippi & me laughing as a little girl
Wardrobe said "you remember back in 67?"

Seems I spend a lot of time picking flowers below Choctaw Ridge
& laugh the reflection in the water underneath the bridge

This is equally gorgeous and rocking - just a wonderful set of songs and great performances and arrangements (and the guitar solos are perfect). As one who was only familiar with the Long Ryders music, coming across this is ear-opening...akin to hearing Gene Clark solo stuff at the first time and marveling how it equaled/bested the Byrds.
